In France, rye production with about 25.000 hectares per year is of minor importance - rye being considered to be the "cereal of poor farmers". Therefore, no quotations for rye in France are available.
Triticale, however, is well known and in 2010 was grown on 355.000 hectares. In fact, France is the triticale producer number 3 in Europe, following Poland and Germany. The crop easily sells through the relevant wholesale companies.
In the past three years, prices of triticale range on a level of about 11 - 17 % below those for soft wheat.
